Subject: Hiding rich text field in Notes Client
Feedback Type: Question
Product Area: Notes Client
Technical Area: Application Development
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.1
Reproducible: Always

I am making a modification to a database that has a rich text field that may have attachments. This modification is accessed through the Notes Client. People with editor access and a certain role should be able to see the rich text field, but not modify it. People with editor access and without this role should be able to modify the rich text field.

What is the cleanest solution to solving this problem. I have read a lot of the solutions on the forum, but have not found one that exactly fits.

I tried having two fields, one for edit and one for display (computed) and then hiding one or the other depending on what roles the user has. However as pointed out in some of the forum responses, hide paragraph doesn’t work too well with rich text fields.

Any help would be appreciated.
